The suspect resides in Majoji Village in Mai’adua Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bensen Gwana, paraded the suspect before newsmen on Friday in Katsina.

“The suspect allegedly poisoned the baby through giving him drinking water.

“The mother of the baby suspected foul-play and took the baby to the Mai’adua Hospital and later Daura General Hospital where it was confirmed that the boy was poisoned.

“The baby died at the Daura General Hospital when medical experts failed to stop the continuous watery stooling and vomiting,” the police boss said.

Reacting to the allegation, the suspect denied that she intentionally killed the baby, saying that she only used her hand to give the baby the drinking water.

She said she had used her hand to spread rat poison but did not wash the said hand and gave the baby water with it.

“The mother of the baby and my husband have forgiven me, but the parents of my co-wife were those insisting that I must be punished,” she told newsmen.

Former Zimbabwe finance minister Ignatius Chombo, who was arrested by the military two weeks ago, along with $10m cash,  appeared in court on Saturday to face corruption charges.
It was Chombo’s first public appearance since his arrest and Robert Mugabe’s fall.
He was reportedly found in possession of $10m cash.
He had no visible injuries and appeared calm, chatting with the police guarding him when the court took a break. He was dressed in dark blue suit.
Chombo’s lawyer, Lovemore Madhuku, had said his client was admitted to hospital on Friday with injuries sustained from beatings he received in military custody.
The police said they had no information on Chombo when asked to comment.
Madhuku has said the corruption and abuse-of-power charges against Chombo, who was expelled from the ruling ZANU-PF party on Sunday, related to his time as local government minister more than a decade ago.
Emmerson Mnangagwa, 75, the former vice president sacked by Mugabe earlier this month, was sworn in as president on Friday. On Thursday, Mnangagwa urged the country’s citizens not to undertake any form of “vengeful retribution”.
Some of Mnangagwa’s supporters have been calling for unspecified action against the so-called G40 group that backed Mugabe and his wife. Chombo was allied to the G40 group.

Every married couple want to build a happy and healthy marriage devoid of problems too difficult to crack. While some clearly understand the complexities and are able to create a balance between their individual and marital lives, others anticipate a marriage of perfection and total fulfillment.

Unfortunately, when you finally come to the realisation that your spouse is not the man or woman with the ability to fulfil all your dreams, support as well as protect you, life can be lonely and emotionally draining too. The truth is: marriage cannot satisfy all your needs as no man has the capacity to fulfil all his/her partner’s heart’s desires; nevertheless you can be emotionally fulfilled in your marriage.

Set your rules ahead
Marriage in itself can be very exhausting when you consider the many sacrifices you both have to make as a couple and it can even be more demanding if you have children and sometimes in-laws living with you as members of your family.

Sharing your home with extended families can come with so many complications and if you cannot manage the dynamics as a couple, it can affect the stability of your home and affect your emotional wellbeing too.

In order to avoid this situation, it may be advisable to have a stern discussion on this topic and come to a favourable agreement together, set your rules ahead during the courtship period and try to focus on yourselves and your individual happiness too.

Build your own identity
Every man and woman wants a strong and positive spouse and not one who focusses on their imperfections and that of the marriage always. Spend your time and energy thinking about things you can do to engage and enhance yourself within and outside your marriage. Find your purpose and start to add value to your life, rebuild a fun, happier and more fulfilled you as you gradually become emotionally fulfilled in your marriage again.

Recognise your strengths
Misery likes company; be careful of the company you keep and how you portray your spouse and marriage to the outsiders as many with failed marriages are looking for others to recruit.  A good marriage is that which is enriched through individual’s capacity to recognise the things that make their spouses happy and also help them to nurture their individual strengths too.

Build external relationships
Building external relationships with good friends outside your marriage can boost your emotional fulfilment within especially if your spouse also enjoys quality time socialising with friends too.

There are many significant advantages in socialising which can be achieved in different ways either formally or informally. The benefits are great when you rub minds with others and they can also impact positively on wellbeing and your marital relationship too.

The Igbinedion University, Okada on Saturday announced automatic employment for graduates sponsored by the Presidential Amnesty Programme and who made second class upper degrees in the 2016/2017 academic session.
Prof Eghosa Osaghae, Vice Chancellor of the institution announced this during the 15th convocation of the institution.
The Niger Delta Amnesty Programme was introduced by the Umaru Yar’Adua administration in 2009, as part of efforts to disarm restive youths in the oil region. A key element is the education, up to tertiary level, of disarmed militants.
Osaghae also said that all graduates from Kano, Bauchi, Gombe with second class upper, as well as the best computer science graduate would also be automatically employed.
He said that the employment would be effected immediately after the graduates completed the mandatory National Youth Service.
He also disclosed that institution has concluded plans to float scholarship scheme for prospective undergraduates who desire to make careers in the sciences.
According to him, the scholars would be the ten best students from each of the 36 states of the federation.
He said the university has introduced the incentive to give back to the society, since, in his view, government has failed to extend bursary and scholarships to students in private universities.
The Chancellor, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion said that the scholarship scheme would help boost manpower in the sciences.
Igbinedion was represented by his son, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, a former governor of Edo state.
He appealed to the Federal Government to include private universities as beneficiaries of TETFUND.
He disclosed that since the establishment of the Igbinedion University, the institution had produced no fewer than 3,000 lawyers, 1, 500 doctors, 2,000 engineers and 800 pharmacists.
He gave assurance that the institution would continue to be funded to meet international best practices in education.
The Pro Chancellor of the institution, Prof Oluwole Akande, disclosed that the institution had produced no fewer than 13,000 graduates, since its establishment in 1999.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ambassador Nkoyo Toyota delivered the convocation lecture titled “Restructuring and the future of Nigeria Needs”.
Igbinedion University, based in Okada, headquarters of Ovia North-East Local Government Area, Edo state, was the first private university established in Nigeria.
