For circulating fake news about a married woman said to be involved in trafficking children, the Police in Kano State have arrested the administrator and members of a Whatsapp group.

Magaji Musa Maaji, spokesman of the Kano Police Command, told PR Nigeria that the suspects were arrested after the woman lodged a complaint with the Police.

According to Magaji, “We received a complaint from a married woman and a civil servant, Mrs Bushirat Madaki, that her picture is being shared on WhatsApp group with the intent to malign and incite the public against her.

“Upon receiving the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Rabiu Yusuf, ordered an immediate investigation by a special team, who were able to trace and arrest three married suspects, a man and two women, for circulating the fake and offensive information.
Suspects
“When confronted on the petition against them, the suspects admitted that the image and material on the woman were shared and forwarded in their group.

“They also admitted that they didn’t know the woman in person and have never had interaction with her before distributing the image and the story. They, therefore, sought forgiveness.

“For now, the Police Command has granted the suspects bail because the offence is bailable, while further investigation is ongoing. The Police command is also currently providing security cover for the innocent woman for fear of mob attacks, because her image and the false report on her have gone viral.”

Noting that it is an offence to circulate fake news that could negatively affect the nation’s security or jeopardise an individual’s personal freedom, the Police spokesman urged social media users “to be wary of what they receive and share or forward on social media, especially WhatsApp”.

He continued: “We should guard against the misuse of social media platforms by sharing and forwarding objectionable or fake messages.” LR News

Makurdi, Sept. 11, 2018 (NAN) Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Tuesday swore in Mrs Veronica Onyeke as the first female Head of Service (HoS) in the state.
Ortom said in Markudi that since the creation of the state in 1976, a woman had not been appointed as its Head of Service.
”This is the first time the state will be having a woman as the Head of Service. This is made possible by divine providence and because my administration is gender sensitive,” he said.
The governor urged the new HoS to be committed to her duties, stressing that the oath she had taken was a commitment to God and humanity.
”If you do otherwise, on the day of reckoning you will give account of your stewardship.
”Anything that you do in secret, God will definitely see, and He will ask you to give account.
”Your appointment came at a time the civil service was facing a lot of challenges ranging from indiscipline, absenteeism and inability of the government to clear salary arrears among others,” he said.
Ortom charged the HoS not to fail in disciplining and motivating the staff for optimum performance.
The governor told the head of service to evolve policies that would turn around the civil service by rekindling hard work and dedication to duty in the civil servants.
He expressed his belief in the ability of the new head of service to discharge her responsibilities creditably.
Responding, Onyeke said she was overwhelmed with joy for the privilege given her to serve in the exalted position.
She assured the governor that she would not disappoint the government and thanked him for the confidence reposed in her.

The Premium Bread Makers Association of Nigeria have warned that the price of bread may soon increase.

The President of Premium Bread Makers Association of Nigeria, Mr Jemide Tosan, said this at a briefing in Lagos on Monday. He noted that the cost of producing bread has increased due to an increase in prices of baking ingredients.

He pointed out that there is a 57 percent increase in the price of diesel, which is used to power factory generators on a 24-hour basis.

“The challenges we face as a result of the incessant increase in the prices of baking ingredients have rendered most premium bakeries comatose making us to operate at a loss.

“Given the current situation, most premium bakeries may be forced to embark on a price increase, which will further make bread unaffordable to the common man,” he said.

He explained that although the prices of flour, sugar and other baking items had increased threefold in the past three years, there had been no corresponding increase in the prices of premium bread by its members.

He, however, said the association is totally committed to ensuring that Nigerians have healthy, quality, affordable and harmless bread on their tables.

As embarrassing and disgusting as farting may be, it is a way for the body to release gas which builds up in the body when food gets digested. But there are several situations when one can’t simply pass wind and we all face them.
But gas can’t be held back forever and trapping it inside can cause damage to digestive health. While no one likes to be in a stinky situation, gas can get reabsorbed in the body if it doesn’t find a way out and can even escape through the mouth, reports deccanchronicle.com.
If held in for too long, it can just find its way out in form of an uncontrollable fart which can be even more humiliating.
When food is digested in the small intestine, components which can’t be broken down move to the large intestine where bacteria break them down by fermentation producing gases in the process.
Holding back this gas can cause a build up of pressure leading to abdominal distension. Some gas gets reabsorbed in circulation and is exhaled.

The Police Command in Enugu State has begun investigation into the alleged killing of a 72-year-old man following a dispute over palm fruits in Amansiodo-Oghe community in Ezeagu Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said in a statement in Enugu on Monday that the incident occurred on Sept. 7 at about 12 noon.
Amaraizu said that the 72-year-old man, identified as Mr Ibe Omewu from Amansiodo Oghe community, was reported to have been killed by a 34-year-old man from the same community.
He explained that Omewu met his death on that fateful day when a certain woman from the community reportedly brought to his attention that the suspect had harvested her palm fruits on the former’s farmland.
“It was further gathered that the deceased upon the receipt of the report proceeded with the woman to ask the culprit to hand over the palm fruits to the woman, and to desist from further harvesting of the palm fruits.
“This, however, did not go down well with the suspect who quickly went inside his room got an iron rod and allegedly hit Omewu on his head.
“He was said to have become unconscious and was rushed to Our Saviour Medical Centre, 9th Mile Corner, Ngwo, for medical attention but was later confirmed dead on Sept. 9 by a doctor on duty,’’ he said.
Amaraizu noted that the dead body of the deceased had been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for post mortem.
“The suspect is currently helping police operatives in their investigations,’’ he said.
