Hope seems to be rising in search efforts of the missing Malaysia MH370 plane, as a British tech sleuth believes it has found the wreckage on Google Maps.
Ian Wilson of sleuth claims he has spotted the doomed jet, which vanished in 2014 with 239 people on board, lying in a high altitude area of the Cambodian jungle.
Images from Google Maps show the outline of a large plane which could simply be an aircraft flying directly below the satellite which photographed it.
Ian Wilson claims he found the wreckage of MH370 plane on Google Maps

But video producer Ian is convinced of his findings and says he intends to visit the sight to solve one of the greatest mysteries in aviation history.
He told the Daily Star: “Measuring the Google sighting, you’re looking at around 69 meters, but there looks to be a gap between the tail and the back of the plane.
“It’s just slightly bigger, but there’s a gap that would probably account for that.”
MH370 went missing with its passengers en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014.
In July this year, the Malaysian government released the findings of their investigation admitting they still do not know what happened to the passenger jet.
Despite millions of pounds being spent to find the plane, Ian believes he has uncovered the wreckage by spending “hours” searching online.
He said: “I was on there (Google Earth), a few hours here, a few hours there. If you added it up I spent hours searching for places a plane could have gone down.
“And in the end, as you can see the place where the plane is, is literally the greenest, darkest part you can see.”

Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu, says politicians defecting from one party to another would not be shielded from prosecution by the anti-graft agency.
Speaking during a parley with editors in Lagos on Wednesday, Magu said there is no hiding place for such politicians in the fight against corruption by EFCC.
“The fact that a politician jumps from one party to another will not stop EFCC investigation; we don’t stop investigation until it is concluded.
“It is only the courts that have the powers to decide on whether to exonerate or convict any indicted politician,” said the EFCC chairman.
Responding to alleged interference by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Magu said that he had never received any instruction to stop any investigation.
“I am not the type you’ll ask to stop any investigation”, Magu said.
The EFCC chairman said it had become fashionable for anyone being investigated for corruption by the Commission to scream political persecution.
“With the general elections fast approaching, the resistance has assumed even frightening dimension with political motives imputed to most of our activities,” he said.
According to Magu, the media owes Nigeria a duty not to allow the corrupt to deploy their ill-gotten riches to corner the machinery of government.
The EFCC chief, therefore, urged the media not to lend their platforms to helping the cause of the corrupt that were shedding crocodile tears.
“We must all do what is right for our country, which is ensuring that those who steal our common patrimony are brought to justice,” Magu said.
According to him, the EFCC has so far revealed only about 10 per cent of the monumental corruption perpetrated in the past and urged all security agencies to prioritize anti-graft fight.
“You have not seen anything yet, we have not even touched 10 per cent of corruption perpetrated in the past,” he said.
The EFCC boss said banks needed to strengthen internal control and urged the Central Bank to re-appraise regulatory and ethical conduct of banks in order to win the fight against corruption.
According to him, EFCC has signed memorandums of understanding with the United Arab Emirates and Mauritius in its efforts to recover looted assets.
He expressed concern at the state of seized assets which were rotting away at various locations across the country.
On assets recovery, Magu said EFCC had recovered a total of N106.5 billion, $1.63 million, 629,000 British Pounds and 25,575 Euros this year.
He expressed the hope that EFCC would surpass the record of 189 convictions achieved in 2017, going by over 158 convictions secured between January and August this year. LR News

The police have paraded a man suspected to be the informant in the search of the home of elder statesmen, Edwin Clark, in Abuja.

Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Jimoh Moshood, paraded the suspect identified as Ismail Yakubu on Wednesday at the Police Headquarters in the nation’s capital.

Moshood said Yakubu is from Waru village in the Apo district of the Federal Capital Territory.

He also revealed the names of the four police personnel allegedly involved in the raid of Clark’s residence in Asokoro on Tuesday.

They are David Dominic, who is alleged to have led the team in the search, as well as Godwin Musa, Sada Abubakar and Yabo Paul.

The police spokesman disclosed that Dominic has been queried while the three others were undergoing orderly trial for the appropriate punishment to be meted out on them.

He also said Yakubu would be arraigned in court for giving false information and telling a falsehood to mislead police action.

He explained that the police receive information from members of the public on daily basis and were promptly used to prevent and detect crimes and criminalities in the country.

Moshood, however, warned that “the Force will not condone misconducts by any of its personnel that can run contrary to the rule of law.”

“The police, therefore, has the statutory rights to execute a duly obtained search warrant in any premises where it has actionable intelligence or information that incriminating items or exhibits used to commit crime or about to be used for criminality with the aims of recovering them to prevent the commission of such crime or to detect the crime that have been committed,” he added in a statement.

The Force spokesman insisted that any officer who was to carry out the execution of a search warrant must follow the laid down procedures within the law.

He warned that an officer would be made to face the consequences of violating the rule of law, where such procedures were not followed.

Four police officers allegedly from the IGP’s Special Tactical Squad had stormed Clark’s residence in Asokoro, Abuja with a warrant to search for weapons.

But elder statesman condemned the incident which he said was an embarrassment and threatened to take legal action against the force.

Moshood had said that the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, was not aware and did not order the raid.

The police, thereafter, sent a delegation of top officers to visit Clark and apologise for the incident.

The Presidency has explained why President Muhammadu Buhari declined his assent to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang, highlighted some errors as part of the reasons President Buhari refused to sign the bill into law.

“When a bill is presented to the President; and if there is any impunity, typographical, anything unconstitutional, the President cannot correct a comma, full stop, or change a capital to a small letter,” he said Wednesday during his appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

“It has to go back to the legislature because when a President receives a bill, he is to say yes! I assent or no! I don’t assent.”

Senator Enang made the explanation two days after he issued a statement in which he revealed that Buhari’s decision was due to “some drafting issues”.

He had, however, said President Buhari would sign the bill into law after the issues were resolved.

The Presidential aide stressed further that the National Assembly passed an amended bill on July 24, while the Presidency received it on August 3 after the lawmakers went on recess.

He, therefore, exonerated the President saying he could not just have worked on mere speculations that the lawmakers had addressed the issues he earlier raised when the bill was first presented to him on June 27.

“The President could not say since I am expecting, and I am aware by media reports that you have addressed some of the issues I raised, let me wait because the National Assembly and the Constitution would have taken him up on that,” he said.

Enang added, “So the President had to write to NASS that the bill you presented to me sometime in June, being the only document before me, I have declined assent formally and I urge you to address some of these issues.

“What was passed on July 24 was transmitted to the President only on August 3, after July 26 had passed that the President had to say yes or no.”

Following the rejection of the bill,  the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised President Buhari for his decision.

The party had asked the National Assembly to use their constitutional power to override the President on the Electoral Act 2010 (Amendment) Bill.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has apologised to Edwin Clark over the search conducted at his residence in Abuja by some police personnel.

The apology was tendered on behalf of the IGP and the Force by a delegation of top police officers who visited the elder statesman on Tuesday.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Jimoh Moshood, confirmed this in a statement, saying the police delegation was led by a Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr Habila Joshak.

Mr Moshood added that the delegation was received by Clark and the apology was accepted by him.

He insisted that the police boss was not aware of and did not authorise the search of the elder statesman.

The Force spokesman disclosed that the IGP has ordered the parade of the informant in the case before he was charged to court.

A team of police officers allegedly from the IGP’s Special Tactical Squad had stormed Clark’s residence in Asokoro, Abuja with a warrant to search for weapons.

The elder statesman, in his reaction, described the incident as an embarrassment and threatened to take legal action over the raid.

Further to the earlier Press Statement from the Nigeria Police Force on the directives of the Inspector General of Police for immediate detention and Investigation of the four (4) police personnel (including a senior police officer) and an informant involved in the unauthorised, illegal and unprofessional misconduct in the Search of Chief Edwin Clark’s Residence in Asokoro, Abuja, today 4th September, 2018.

The IGP as stated in the Press Statement was not aware and did not authorise the search and has, therefore, sent a delegation of senior police officers, led by DIG Habila Joshak (DIG DOPs) along with some Commissioners of Police who visited the elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, and apologised on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force and the IGP for the misconducts of the said police personnel and the attendant embarrassment the search has caused on the elder statesman and his family.

The delegation was received by Chief Edwin Clark and the apology was accepted by him.

Osun CP., Mr Olafimihan Adeoye

The Osun Police Command on Tuesday announced the arrest of a 27 year-old man Isa Adamu, who allegedly conspired with others to kidnap and later murder his 55 year-old father after collecting ransom from his family.
The murdered man was identified as Ibrahim Adamu.
Mr Olafimihan Adeoye, Osun Commissioner of Police, while parading suspects at the Police Command in Osogbo, told newsmen that on April 27, the senior Adamu was kidnapped in his house in Ede, Osun, and driven away in his car by a gang of kidnappers.
He said when the case was reported to the police, a prime suspect, Jola-Anabi Saheed was arrested and charged to court for the kidnapping.
He said the prime suspect later jumped bail .
Adeoye said the action of the prime suspect led to further investigation by the police, which resulted in the arrest of three other suspects, including the son of the kidnapped victim.
He said the police, after interrogating the three suspects, discovered that it was the son of the suspect that hired the others and the fugitive prime suspect to kidnap his father.
He said it was also discovered that the suspects killed their victim after collecting N3 million ransom from his family.
He said the suspects confessed to have buried their victim’s body near a river and it is now believed that the corpse had been washed away by the river.
He said the son of the kidnapped victim confessed to the police that his accomplices promised to give him N500,000 from the ransom collected from his family but only gave him N45,000.
Adeoye said another four-man robbery gang, terrorising Owode, Ede, Osogbo and it’s environs was also arrested by the police and two vehicles, electronics and other items were recovered from the gang.
He said a Hummer Bus that was stolen in Osun in August was recovered in Abeokuta, Ogun from the buyer. The recovery of the bus, he said, also led to the recovery of five other stolen vehicles through SARS investigation.
