Former US president, Barack Obama has made his debut on musical charts at number 22 on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart this week.
Obama lands on the ranking that lasts till January 5 with a song called “One Last Time (44 Remix).
According to Billboard, Obama is listed as a featured artist on the “Hamilton” song, which also features Christopher Jackson and gospel musician BeBe Winans.
The former US president delivered George Washington’s farewell address on the track which is a part of a series of “Hamildrops” aimed to raise money for multiple nonprofits.
The song starts with 307,000 on-demand US streams and 9,000 downloads sold in the week ending December 27, according to Nielsen Music.
Creator of the Broadway hit musical, Lin-Manuel Miranda released the track, which is a gospel-inspired remix of a song from the show, on December 20
An instant pop-culture behemoth, Hamilton nabbed a record 16 Tony nominations and 11 wins in 2016.
The musical is a take on the life of American founding father Alexander Hamilton.
NAN reports that the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart ranks the most popular R&B and hip hop songs in the US, and is published weekly by Billboard, an American entertainment media brand.
The chart had 100 positions but was shortened to 50 positions in October 2012, with rankings based on sales, radio play, and online streaming in the United States.
The chart is used to track the success of popular music songs in urban, or primarily African- American venues.

Troops on Thursday neutralised six Boko Haram terrorists and destroyed their hideouts at Gawa and Boskoro villages of Mafa Local Government Area of Borno.
According to a statement by the army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, the gallant troops also rescued three women at Boskoro, who had been handed over to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp officials at Dikwa.
Usman said they recovered three pieces of 36 hand grenade, four Dane guns, 26 round of the anti-aircraft ammunition, three gas cylinders and a set of bow and arrow.
He quoted the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole Maj.-Gen. Benson Akinroluyo as commending the troops and charged them to be more daring in clearing suspected terrorists’ hideout.

Five crew members, including two pilots and three personnel of the Nigerian Air Force, have been confirmed dead in the helicopter crash which occurred in Damasak, Borno State, late on Wednesday.

The deceased are identified as; Flight Lieutenant Perowei Jacob, pilot in command; Flight Lieutenant Kaltho Kilyofas, co-pilot; Sergeant Auwal Ibrahim, flight technician; Lance corporal Adamu Nura, gunner, and Aircraftman Meshack Ishmael, gunner.

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, confirmed their deaths in a release on Thursday, noting that their remains had been deposited in Maiduguri, Borno State.

An attack helicopter of the NAF deployed in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgents had been reported to have been lost in combat.

The NAF had said the aircraft was lost around 10.30pm on Wednesday, noting that the helicopter was providing close air support to troops of 145 Battalion at Damasak in Northern Borno State.

Northern Borno is a vulnerable area where the Islamic State of West African Province fighters were attempting to overrun military bases, with attacks on Metele, Buni Gari and Baga in the latest attempted invasion on December 26 and 27, 2018.

The NAF’s spokesman, Daramola, had said, “A Nigerian Air Force helicopter was lost in combat while providing close air support to troops of 145 Battalion at Damasak in Northern Borno State. The mission was part of the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East.

“The incident occurred about 7:45pm on January 2. Details of the cause of the crash are still scanty. As soon as the details of the crash are known, they will be made available to the public.”
