President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday said Nigerians who felt that they have another country outside Nigeria may choose to go.

He said he and others who do not have another country would rather stay back and salvage it together.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President spoke while receiving All Progressives Congress governorship aspirants and members of the party from the three senatorial zones of Kwara State at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He enjoined Nigerians to remain faithful and loyal to the country in all their dealings.

Buhari said, “You don’t have to be in uniform to be loyal.

“What I said long ago in 1984 is still valid today. We have no other country but Nigeria.

“Others who feel they have another country may choose to go. We will stay here and salvage it together.”

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshimohole, claimed that one or two state governors elected on the platform of the party are not happy with him.

He, however, said not less than 90% of members of the party were comfortable with him remaining the chairman.

Oshiomhole spoke with State House correspondents after a delegation of the APC from Kwara State met President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He claimed that those not happy with him in the party were aggrieved because he insisted on following due process.

The Kwara State APC Governorship candidate, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, said the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, and his camp were no threat to his ambition in 2019.

According to him, Saraki is history in Kwara politics.

The Abia Police Command said on Monday, that it had commenced an investigation into the suspected murder of two priests and a woman at Umuobia Housing Estate, Umuahia.

The Command’s Public Relations Officers, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria in Umuahia.

He said that the command hopes to unravel the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

NAN recalls that the deceased included Kelechi Iwuanyanwu, a pastor and founder of Winds of Glory, a new generation church located in Ohokobe-Ndume in Umuahia North Local Government Area.

Ogbonna was reportedly murdered in his residence at the estate in the early hours of Sunday, October 14, along with his alleged mistress and Woman Leader of the church, Ruth Andrews and Kalu Ikeagwu, the assistant pastor.

Their remains were recovered on Saturday by the police, following a report by Ikeagwu’s relatives and distraught members of the church.

According to him, the remains of the deceased were found decomposing in Iwuanyanwu’s bungalow, situated in an isolated part of the estate.

“We appeal to anybody with useful information that will help us to unravel the killers to come to the command with such information,” Ogbonna said.

He said that a team of policemen, led by Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Mr Patrick Edung, recovered the corpses.

He said that preliminary findings showed that the deceased were all murdered by their assailants with a machete.

Ogbonna said that members of the church became apprehensive over the whereabouts of Iwuanyanwu, Ruth and Ikeagwu after they failed to attend services on October 14 and Wednesday.

He said that worried by the development, they decided to visit the pastor’s house.

“Upon getting to the house, they noticed that the place was under lock and key, with bad odour oozing out of the compound.

“They decided to scale the fence into the compound and when they peeped through the windows, they found the three corpses in different locations inside the house,” he said.

He said that the people quickly rushed to Ubakala Police Station, where they reported the incident.

The spokesman said that the bodies were deposited at the Federal Medical Centre morgue in Umuahia.

He also said that the assailants reportedly took away electronic gadgets and exotic cars, including Pathfinder and Lexus Jeeps, allegedly belonging to the pastor.

The lady, Ruth, was said to be a proprietor of a popular crèche, nursery and private school in Umuahia.

As Xenophobia on Sunday reared its ugly head again in South Africa, Nigerians have lost more than nine shops to arsonists in Hillbrow, central Johannesburg.
The Publicity Secretary of Nigerian Union in South Africa, Mr Habib Miller, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the telephone from Pretoria on Monday that South Africans allegedly committed the act.
Miller said that the union had informed the Nigerian Mission in South Africa and was expecting their response to the development.
“Nine Nigerian businesses have been looted and burnt. The incident began on Sunday and continued till Monday, Oct. 22.
“Businesses affected range from restaurants, internet cafe, bar, groceries and stores.
“ At the time of the incident, electricity in the area was cut off. One of the businesses affected is owned by Mr C.J. Ubah, a bar owner at Fife Street,’’ he said.
Miller called on the police to come to the rescue of Nigerians by protecting their lives and property.
“The union is monitoring the situation. We have not received any report of casualty on any Nigerian, but the situation is still tense because there are fears that the looting will resume in the night.
“ We have also advised Nigerians in the area to adopt safety measures by being alert,’’ Miller said.
NAN reports that xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa hit a high magnitude in 2016 but it had occurred in 2015, when a series of attacks were carried out on nationals of foreign countries.
In that attack nationals of Zimbabwe and Nigeria bore the brunt of the violence. That particular incident was attributed to the inciting words of the Zulu king who called on all foreigners to leave the country.
Prior to that time there had been reported attacks in 1998, 2000, 2008, 2009 and 2013.
In 2013, the Governments of Nigeria and South Africa signed a Memorandum of Understanding to reinforce diplomatic ties with the hope of preventing further attacks.
The events of 2016 and 2017 have proven that those efforts were in vain. The recurrence of these attacks without a doubt raise the question as to why they are common to South Africa.
Indeed, at a loss to understand why Nigerians have been targeted, many reasons have been adduced as being responsible, the most amusing of which is the claim that South Africans involved in the attack were acting upon false information that foreigners, including Nigerians were taking away their jobs and women!
At least no fewer than 184 Nigerians have been killed in xenophobic attacks between 2016 and this year.

A former governor of Old Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, on Monday urged Nigerians not to gamble with the idea of returning the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to power in 2019.
Musa told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone from Kaduna that the country would be worse off if the main opposition party was allowed to come back.
He said the PDP had ruled the country for 16 years before 2015 and all they brought to Nigerians was misery and underdevelopment.
Musa said that the opposition party almost completely ruined the economy with massive corruption and plunder while in power.
The governor said though all was not well with the country under the present All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government, Nigerians should never risk having any hope in the PDP to make things better.
Musa said that the PDP lacked the moral right to ask for a return to power, and a credible alternative was needed to turn things around in the country.
“I do not understand the hype about PDP returning to power. I just do not understand. Return to do what? The party that created many problems for 16 years while they were in power? No way!
“Things are not too good at the country at the moment, but I think the country would be worse if the PDP is allowed to return. We saw what they did for 16years and they will definitely mess things up further.
“Nigerians should not trust the PDP with power. We will be disappointed. What we need in the country right now is a credible alternative that would deliver good governance and respond to our needs,” he said.
Musa said that money had over the years influenced Nigerian politics, resulting in the emergence of unpopular leaders.
The former governor said Nigerians must be prepared to change the narrative by voting according to their conscience in 2019 and beyond.
He said the country was currently faced with a number security and economic challenges, among others, calling for government’s creative intervention to address.
Musa suggested the economic restructuring of the country to bring back privatised public corporations to government control for provision of more efficient services to the people.
The former governor said the economy was being controlled by the private sector which was ripping off the people with poor service delivery.
