The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has advised outgoing Governor Ayo Fayos to look elsewhere for political sanctuary, should he jump out of the PDP.
Chief Paul Omotoso, Chairman of the party in the state, gave the advice in a statement on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti.
“Fayose should not think of moving from PDP to APC until he clears himself of several criminal cases hanging on his neck,” Omotoso stated.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Omotoso was reacting to reports quoting Fayose as threatening to leave the PDP.
Fayose had threatened to leave the PDP in protest over the outcome of the party’s primary election which gave former Vice President Atiku Abubakar the PDP presidential ticket over Fayose’s choice, Aminu Tambuwal, the Sokoto State governor.
Tambuwal came second with 693 votes, conceding the ticket to Abubakar, who scored 1,532 votes at the National Convention held on Saturday in Port Harcourt. 12 aspirants battled for the ticket.
Omotoso, in his reaction to Fayose’s outburst, advised him to conclude his court cases before contemplating to join APC.
“We want to tell the world that the APC will not provide sanctuary for criminal suspects, political prostitutes and lepers.
“We will never admit such character to this party and we advise Fayose to play his `politics of destruction’ somewhere else.
“Fayose’s prosecution on the alleged poultry project fraud resumes on November 4, 2018.
“Fayose cannot turn Ekiti APC to a haven and sanctuary for criminal suspects. He should forget any plan to smear Ekiti APC with criminal records
“APC is a political party bounded by common ideals of integrity, openness, discipline and commitment to common goals of progressive governance; Fayose does not possess or believe in these attributes as can be seen from his style of politics and governance
“Fayose, over the years, abused, disrespected and openly denigrated President Muhammadu Buhari, the leader of our party who is also the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
“Fayose is coming to destroy our party and ensure President Buhari does not get a second term in 2019. We won’t allow Fayose’s evil plan to materialise”, he said.
Omotoso warned all ward chairmen, where Fayose lives and runs his businesses, against accepting him into the party.
“Our party is not a sanctuary for criminal suspects, political lepers and serial destroyers of the parties they once belonged to.
“No ward chairman should open talks with Fayose until such ward chairman clears with the party leadership at the state level,” he stated
Efforts to obtain Fayose’s reaction to the APC’s stance proved abortive as his lines could not be reached while his aides refused to respond to the APC statement.

Nikki Haley

Nikki Haley resigned Tuesday as the US ambassador to the United Nations, in the latest departure from President Donald Trump’s national security team.
Meeting Haley in the Oval Office, Trump said that Haley had done a “fantastic job” and would leave at the end of the year.
“She told me probably six months ago,” Trump told reporters, ‘”I want to take a little time off.'”
Haley stayed coy on her reasons for quitting, saying only that it was “important to understand when it’s time to stand aside.”
But she insisted that she was not planning to run for president herself against Trump in 2020, when she would likely be seen as a moderate Republican alternative.
The former governor of South Carolina, Haley took the job with little experience in foreign policy but quickly became the full-throated voice at the United Nations for the often unpopular agenda of Trump.
Haley has pressed for a hawkish line on Iran, justified US cuts to foreign assistance and earlier this year led the United States in bolting from the UN Human Rights Council, accusing it of bias against Washington and Israel.
At the recent UN General Assembly session, Haley took the highly unusual step for a senior diplomat of joining street protesters against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, shouting from a megaphone that the leftist leader should leave office.
The daughter of Indian immigrants, Haley had long been seen as a rising star in the Republican Party which has eagerly sought female and ethnic minorities to broaden the appeal beyond its traditional white demographic.
Haley, whose given name was Nimrata Randhawa, was elected governor in 2010 of deeply Republican South Carolina and, during the 2016 campaign, had criticized Trump over his remarks on immigrants before their political reconciliation.
Haley’s is the latest resignation in a turbulent White House, where Trump is already on his third national security adviser and second secretary of state before even the midterm elections.

Hepsibah Mommies Initiative, a humanitarian NGO, has provided entrepreneurial  training and start-up  capital for indigent single mothers and widows in the  Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the women were empowered at the 2018 annual conference and fundraising event for the NGO tagged: “Rising from Our Ashes” held in Abuja.
The NGO gave micro business grants and other incentives to widows and vulnerable women drawn from different rural  settlements in the territory.
Mrs Violet Olalekan-Alabi, the founder of the organisation said that the gesture was in line with the group’s core values of  providing and empowering single mothers and widows in rural areas.
“In line with our vision, we are here to have this category of women trained and empowered to improve their livelihood and that of their children.
“We have observed that most homes are run by these single mothers and widows, especially in the rural communities, and many of them earn little or nothing as income to meet their needs.
“Although, we are committed to providing assistance to single mothers in all categories, widows in rural areas need empowerment and succor,” she said.
Mrs Naomi Osemedua, Founder of ‘Women with Stories’ and speaker at the event, urged the women to be prudent in investing the capital they were given in order for their business to grow as entrepreneurs.
She called on philantropists, corporate organisations and Nigerians of goodwill to identify with the NGO in providing succor for widows and other vulnerable women.
“I urged these beneficiaries to properly manage what has been given to them today for them to grow their businesses and remain economically independent, even as single mothers.

“We also called on well-meaning Nigerians to join hands with this movement because when women are economically empowered, the society will be better for it,” she said.
Mrs Patience Isaac, a widow and mother of three, who was given fund for her accommodation, besides business capital,  expressed gratitude to the NGO.
“I was living in an uncompleted building until Hepsibah Mommies came to my rescue, gave me business capital, and has also promised to pay my child’s school fees,” she explained.
Besides the financial empowerment and business training, the conference also featured social interactions and sensitisation on healthy lifestyle and relationships.
Seasoned resource persons spoke to the women on effective parenting, income generation and the need to be self-reliant economically, amongst other activities.
