The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dapo Abiodun, is currently leading Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement with over 39,480 votes in 11 of the 20 local government areas in Ogun state.
The data available as at the time of filing this report revealed that Abiodun was leading in 11 local government areas out of the 15 announced so far by the returning officers from the various Local governments.
Ogun State comprises 20 local government areas and three Senatorial districts.
The results released at governorship election collation centre at the Independent National Electoral Commission headquarters, Magbon, Abeokuta, showed that Abiodun had polled the highest number of votes in Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu, Ijebu-North-East, Odeda, Obafemi-Owode, Abeokuta South, Ikenne, Ijebu-North, Ijebu-East, Odogboolu and Ogun Waterside.
Akinlade won Egbado South and Ewekoro local government areas, while Gboyega Isiaka of the African Democratic Congress won Imeko-Afon local government.
The state Returning Officer, Prof. Joseph Afuwape, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, is set to declare the winner as soon as the remaining local governments are presented by the collation officers.
Meanwhile, from the results announced so far, APC had 169,984 votes, while APM had 155,102 votes with the margin of 39,480 votes.
