REPATRIATE SUSPECTED LOOTS TRACED TO DIEZANI LIKE THE FORTFEITED $37.5M MANSION ON BANANA ISLAND, CACOL TELLS EFCC

The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, CACOL has charged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to go after the N47.2bn and $487.5m in cash and properties recently traced to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

In a well publicized article co-authored by two officers in the EFCC’s Public Affairs Directorate, Tony Orilade and Aishah Gambari, with the title “Diezani Alison-Madueke: What an appetite,” it was revealed that the EFCC discovered several of Diezani’s landed properties scattered all over Lagos and other parts of the country in the course of its investigations. Cash, very expensive jewelries and trinkets were also discovered according to the EFCC.

Mr. Debo Adeniran, the Executive Chairman of CACOL who reacted to the revelations said “beyond the publishing of this article and exposition of the suspected proceeds of corruption traced to the former Minister, the EFCC should act fast on the facts deriving from its investigations with the ultimate motive of repatriating the funds to the coffers of the country.”

“Such humongous resources will surely go a long way in assuaging a chunk of the pains of the Nigerians who have been raped by corrupt and wicked public officials such as Diezani that divert commonwealth for their self-aggrandizement.”

“The Commission should adopt every legal and constitutional means to achieve this just like it has achieved the forfeiture of the corruptly acquired $37.5m mansion on Banana Island owned by the apparently incurably inept former Minister.”

“The EFCC should act fast before these resources are re-looted as far the Commission’s investigations have enough facts to establish grounds for culpability in terms of criminality. Elements like the former Minister validate and reveal how well-seated corruption is in our public offices and spaces. We should spare no rods in dealing with those the laws have caught up with to serve as deterrent to other corrupt elements pervading our public offices.”

“Therefore, the EFCC should complete their investigations diligently, if it has not been completed, it should utilize the courts to repatriate the funds, properties etc. where illegality is established.” He concluded

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has mentioned Tanko Yakassai, Ango Abdulahi and other Fulanis as people who are to be arrested with him.

Kanu said he wonder why he would be rearrested and Tanko Yakassai or Ango Abdulahi will not be arrested also.

The IPOB leader also declared that he is not afraid of any threats rather they motivate him Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Thursday, August 10, revealed the names of some people that must be arrested with him if he is to be rearrested.

Reports have it that Kanu who named the people as Tanko Yakassai, Ango Abdulahi and other Fulanis said they are his sources of encouragement.

NAIJ.com gathered that the IPOB leader boasted that he has freedom of movement and nobody can deny him of the rights in any part of the country.

It was learnt that he disclosed this in reaction to the protest that was staged by some northern youths calling for his rearrest on Wednesday, August 9.

He said: ''But why will I be re-arrested and nobody is going to arrest Tanko Yakassai or Ango Abdulahi because of what they have been saying? ''

Is it because they are Fulani? They own Nigeria? They are immuned to arrest? Is arrest only meant for Biafrans and not for Fulani?.

''Who will arrest Lawal Daura of DSS for flouting court order to release Bright Chimezie Isinwa of IPOB? The Fulanis say whatever they like and go free and nobody holds them accountable because they own Nigeria''.

According to him: ''I go to anywhere I want to go. I don’t listen to threats. They motivate me rather than dampen my spirit.

''That thing people say I cannot do is what I love to do. When the time comes, I will go to Lagos if I have to go to Lagos. ''

I completely disagree with them. They are the pioneers of hate speech. Go through the text of speeches made by Ango Abdulahim, Tanko Yakassia or the ones made by one Abubarkar.

''Are those ones not hate speeches? Unfortunately, I blame the deplorable state of education in Nigeria because they don’t know what hate speech is all about''.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that Arewa Youth Assembly on Wednesday, August 9 held a protest to demand for the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu over the unity of Nigeria.

Roughly 50 teenage Somali and Ethiopian migrants were “deliberately drowned’’ on Wednesday by a smuggler, who forced 120 passengers into the sea off Yemen’s coast, the International Organisation for Migration said.

“The survivors told our colleagues on the beach that the smuggler pushed them to the sea, when he saw some ‘authority types’ near the coast,” Laurent Boeck, the IOM Yemen Chief of Mission, said in a statement.

“IOM staff found the remains of 29 African migrants buried on the beach in Yemen’s Shabwa province along the Gulf of Aden, while another 22 were missing after the incident, according to survivors.

A statement by Emeka Iheanacho, the Zone’s Police Public Relations Officer, said the money was from the Nigeria Police Group Life Assurance Claim Settlement Scheme.

Abubakar Mohammed, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 5, with headquarters in Benin, Edo State, on Wednesday presented 10 cheques worth N12.8 million to families of 10 deceased officers.

A statement by Emeka Iheanacho, the Zone’s Police Public Relations Officer, said the money was from the Nigeria Police Group Life Assurance Claim Settlement Scheme.

It said the gesture was to assist the survivors of the heroes, who paid the supreme price by sacrificing their lives for Nigeria.

The statement quoted Mohammed as condoling the beneficiaries on the demise of their husbands, noting that no amount of money was enough to replace their bread winners.

It further quoted the AIG as reaffirming the Force’s commitment to the welfare of its officers and men in the efforts to encourage them to put in their best toward ridding Nigeria of criminals.

The statement indicated that seven beneficiaries from Edo State Police Command received N7,694,769 million, while three from Delta State Police Command received N5,107,210 million.
