This was revealed to newsmen by Senator Shehu Sani (APC, Kaduna) minutes after  Senator Abdullahi Adamu was removed as the chairman of Northern Senators forum.

Senator Adamu was accused of mismanaging N70 million belonging to the Northern Senators.

Shehu Sani said it was alleged that some monkeys swallowed the money.

He said the money was swallowed by the monkeys at the senator’s farm.

Sen. Shehu Sani, told newsmen that under Adamu’s leadership, the forum could not account for part of the money inherited from the 7th Assembly.

“There are some things that some of my colleagues cannot say but I’m not used to holding back what is the truth.

“When we resumed as senators, Sen. Ahmed Lawan tendered the sum of N70 million to the 8th Senate.

“That N70 million was monies gathered by northern senators from the 7th senate. So it was handed over to the 8th senators from northern Nigeria under the 8th Senate.

“I think this country is becoming a huge joke. First of all it was the rodent that drove away the President and we now have snakes consuming about N36 million, and you now you have monkeys,” Sani said.

A 47-year-old businessman, Rufus Otegbola, on Wednesday told an Igando Customary Court, Lagos, that his wife, Funmilayo, is a serial divorcee.
Rufus, who urged the court to dissolve his 13-year-old marriage to Funmilayo for alleged adulterous acts, told the court that he was the fifth husband of the respondent.
“My wife is adulterous and a serial divorcee, she had married and divorced four husbands before I married her.
“Funmilayo is diabolical and fetish, she always comes home with charms and my fear is that she may kill me one day if I do not end the marriage.”
Rufus said that his wife packed out of their matrimonial home without his consent.
“My parent-in-law and my wife’s siblings came to my house to pack my wife’s property without my permission.”
He urged the court to end the marriage as he was no longer in love with her.
In her response, Funmilayo, 42, and a businesswoman, said that her husband was an unrepentant polygamist.
“My husband deceived me. He did not tell me that he had three wives before marrying me.
“He impregnated me and hurried me into his house without legal marriage.
“I discovered that he already had three wives living with him and there was nothing I could do since I was pregnant, I had to stay.”
Funmilayo said that Rufus had also turned her into a punching bag.
“My husband beats me all time and even when I was pregnant, he beats hell out of me; I fell into labour immediately, forcing the delivery of the baby.
“As a result of the frequent beating, on May 9, 2016, I packed my belongings from his house and moved to my parent’s house.”
Funmilayo further described Rufus as an ungrateful person.
“When he lost his job, I was the one feeding him with his wives and their children and I was also paying the school fees of our children and my step children.”
The mother of four, however, consented to the dissolution of the marriage, saying “I am also fed up with the union”.
In his judgment, the President of the court, Mr Akin Akinniyi, noted that the estranged couple were tired of the marriage as all efforts to reconcile them had failed.
“Since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage, this court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage.
“The court pronounced the marriage between Mr Rufus Otegbola and Mrs Funmilayo Otegbola dissolved today, both parties henceforth ceased to be husband and wife.
“Both are free to go their separate way without any hindrances and molestation,” Akinniyi ruled.

Evangelist Billy Graham

American evangelist Billy Graham, a spiritual advisor to a dozen US presidents, died Wednesday at age 99, his foundation said.

Tall and handsome, Graham, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, cut a charismatic figure as an evangelical preacher whose huge tent meetings and rallies found audiences on radio and television.

He preached to a long line of US presidents, from Harry Truman to Barack Obama, and he was portrayed as a spiritual adviser to the young Queen Elizabeth II in the recent Netflix television series “The Crown.”

“Evangelist Billy Graham died today at 7:46 am ET at age 99,” the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association said on its website.

The Southern Baptist preacher was close to the family of President George W. Bush, who once said that a private meeting with Graham in 1985 helped him quit drinking.

More recently his role as a sometime spiritual adviser to the young Queen Elizabeth II as she confronted the burdens of rule was featured in the Netflix mini-series “The Crown.”

Graham was a pioneer of “televangelism” to convert souls to Christianity as television got off the ground in the 1950s.

Born on November 7, 1918, he was raised as one of four children on a dairy farm in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Graham had a spiritual awakening in 1934 that changed the course of his life. He subsequently attended the Florida Bible Institute, now Trinity College of Florida, and was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1939.

In 1950, he founded the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) in Minneapolis, Minnesota and launched a weekly “Hour of Decision” radio program.

Graham and his wife Ruth Bell Graham — the daughter of a missionary surgeon who grew up in China — had five children.

These include Anne Graham Lotz, a Christian author and speaker, and two sons, who like their famous father became ministers.

One son, William Franklin Graham III is now the head of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

His wife Ruth, although married for nearly 64 years to the world’s most famous Baptist preacher, remained a lifelong Presbyterian. She died in June 2007 at the age of 87.

(dpa/LR News) The adage “wonders never ends” became manifest on Wednesday when a farmer in northern India chewed off a snake’s head in revenge after the reptile bit him, with his attending doctors saying they had never come across such a strange case, a local media reported.
The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh state’s Hardoi district at the weekend, when the man identified only by his first name, Sonelal – was rushed to a government health centre after locals found him unconscious.
The man told villagers that he was grazing his cattle in the fields when the snake bit him, which however made him so angry he chewed off its hood before spitting it out.
“The snake bit me, so I held its head and chewed it off, it died, then I brought it back to the village. I tore off its head again,’’ Sonelal told the ANI news agency.
Sanjay Kumar, a doctor who treated him said he was amazed that the man survived after biting the hood, which could have contained venom, assuming it was a poisonous snake.
However, the local media said that the doctors failed to find any marks of snakebite on his body.
“I’ve never seen such a case in my life. The man was all right even after biting a snake,’’ Kumar said.
Witnesses who claimed they saw him ingest part of the snake said they suspected the man was addicted to drugs.
Medical officials believe that the man’s abnormal reaction could only be explained if he was under the influence of drugs.

President Yoweri Museveni ‘s National Resistance Movement (NRM), Uganda’s ruling party, has sacked all employees.
NRM Secretary General Kasule Lumumba made the announcement on Tuesday while addressing the sacked staff, numbering slightly more than 500.
The staffers work both at the party headquarters in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, and at the district level. The NRM has about 132 offices across the country.
“As we check on our policies, so many things are changing. So we also need to change the way we work,” Lumumba told the workers. All the workers were paid all their salary arrears as they wait for their contracts to expire on April 20.
Lumumba said the movement had to fire the workers because the party did not have enough money to pay them. The NRM receives 8 billion Uganda shillings (2.208 million U.S. dollars) annually from the government to run party activities, but its current monthly payroll stands at 825 million shillings (227,774 dollars).
The NRM’s director of legal services, Oscar Kihika, said they had no choice but to terminate the employees’ contracts in order to start with a clean slate.
A Feb. 20 copy of the termination letter seen by Xinhua read in part: “This is to notify you that come April 20, 2018, your employment with the National Resistance Movement shall be terminated and this to give you notice of the same.”
The employees, however, still have a chance to apply for the same jobs.
According to information made available on the website of Uganda’s Parliament, NRM members occupy 294 of the House’s 427 seats.
President Yoweri Museveni is the party’s chairman.

Respite will not come the way of motorists soon as Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) warms up for a strike that will compound the present petrol crisis.
The Association has given the federal government a 14-day ultimatum to settle a N650 billion debt owed its members.
The money is the outstanding subsidy claims inherited by the government from the previous administration.
The association warned that it would be forced to shut all its depots and disengage workers if the government failed to settle the debt within the period given.
The Executive Secretary of the Association, Mr Olufemi Adewole, gave the 14-day ultimatum in a statement issued in Lagos.
Adewole said members did not have any other option to solve the problem of increasing debt burdens of borrowing to pay staff than to immediately commence massive staff disengagement.
“The unfortunate primary fallout of this step is the likely shut down of all DAPPMAN depots nationwide due to lack of manpower to operate same pending the time the Federal Government will pay off its indebtedness to petroleum marketers.
”This unfortunately will have a multiplier effect on the nationwide supply and distribution of petroleum products which presently is still a struggle,’’ he said.
Petrol tankers waiting to load at NNPC depot

Adewole said that a letter was written to the presidency on Jan. 24, but government failed to respond to the plight of petroleum marketers, many of whom have become financially insolvent.
“We are continually under pressure from our banks/AMCON, with looming threats of imminent take-over of our petrol stations and tank farms.
”In the light of the above and after exhausting all formal avenues to secure payment of these debts, we have given government notice to the likelihood of disengaging our personnel.
”The unfortunate primary fallout of this step is the likely shut down of all DAPPMAN depots nationwide due to lack of manpower to operate same pending the time the government will pay off its indebtedness to petroleum marketers.
”This unfortunately will have a multiplier effect on the nationwide supply and distribution of petroleum products which presently is still a struggle,’’ he said.
According to him, this letter serves as a reminder and an opportunity for government and its agencies to speedily approve and pay off its remaining subsidy era indebtedness to all the association’s members and all petroleum marketing companies. (LR News)

At the Microsoft‘Windows in the Classroom’ event, in partnership with Sidmach Technologies

Microsoft has announced the launch of Microsoft 365 Education in Nigeria – a single, affordable technology solution built for education.
Microsoft revealed this on Tuesday in Abuja at the Microsoft ‘Windows in the Classroom’ event, in partnership with Sidmach, an ICT firm.
The solution brings together Office 365, Windows 10, Intune for Education, Minecraft: Education Edition and Enterprise Mobility + Security, in a single cloud-based package.
Ms Jordan Belmonte, Education Programme Manager, Microsoft Nigeria, said that Microsoft provided easy and skillful modes of modern teaching.
“With mounting pressure on educational institutions to continually improve students’ achievement and prepare them with skills they will need when they enter the workforce, the aim of Microsoft 365 Education is to get schools up and running faster through simplified acquisition and deployment.
“This eliminates wasted time and delivers new capabilities to teachers and students to help them learn and work in new ways.
“Microsoft 365 is able to connect all the teachers in the world. Some of the features embedded like One Note, aids multiple language learning and has features suitable for special needs of children.

“With Skype, for instance, teachers can also connect their classrooms to other classrooms around the world, making for an immersive and interactive learning,’’ she said.
On his part, Mr Mark East, Microsoft Regional Leader for Education in Europe, Middle East and Africa, said that schools want simple to purchase, simple to manage, secure and efficient systems.
Consequently, Microsoft 365 Education was designed to deliver on that need, he said.
“Millions of teachers and students are already using Office 365 for Education to communicate and collaborate with each other every day.
“With Microsoft 365 Education, we are providing a complete solution for schools in a single purchase that is a less expensive option than purchasing the same products individually.
“It is also part of our drive to simplify and modernise our licensing programmes ,” she said.
In her presentation, Mrs Jaye Richards-Hills, Senior Director, Digital Education Transformation, Microsoft Europe, Middle East and Africa, said that gone were the days when the teacher was an all-knowing instructor, as the pupils had access to knowledge through technology.
She said that there was a shift from the traditional teacher-led mode of learning to a more collaborative mode.
According to her, Microsoft looks at what the teachers wanted and  build them to pedagogical tools.
“The desire to prepare students for the future is what is propelling Microsoft to build technology that’s easy to use and empowering for both teachers and students,’’ she said.
Microsoft 365 Education makes it possible to unlock creativity in each student with immersive and engaging apps like Minecraft: Education Edition.
It enhances independence and efficiency for students of all abilities using intelligent tools built into office apps.
Teachers drawn from selected secondary schools participated in the event.
