Al-Barnawi says Shekau has turned Boko Haram to an avenue for perpetrating all forms of criminality. About 31 fishermen have been killed by Boko Haram in two separate attacks in the Lake Chad boundary area near Borno state.
A factional leader of Boko Haram, Abu Musad Al-Barnawi, has predicted that the Abubakar Shekau-led faction will suffer defeat at the hands of the Nigerian army.
Al-Barnawi made the prediction in a video uploaded on YouTube to Tuesday, August 8, where he accused Shekau of going against the objectives of the insurgent group, The Cable reports.
Al-Barnawi said the group was created by Muhammad Yusuf for the purpose of propagating good teachings and practice of Islam.
He, however, stated that Shekau had turned Boko Haram to an avenue for perpetrating all forms of criminality.

Meanwhile, there are indications that at least 31 fishermen have been killed by Boko Haram in two separate attacks in the Lake Chad boundary area near Borno state.
A report on Vanguard quoted fishermen and vigilantes fighting the Islamist group confirming the incident on Monday, August 7.
According to the report, Boko Haram stormed the fishing islands of Duguri and Dabar Wanzam in the freshwater lake on Saturday, August 5 attacking fishermen working in the area and shooting their victims.
The fishermen were said to have returned to the fishing hub of Baga on the lake’s shores days earlier and had paddled out to the two islands in wooden canoes on Friday, August 4, looking for fish.
News of the attacks was slow to emerge with communication in the area difficult as Boko Haram has destroyed telecom masts in the region in attacks over the last few years.
