INDEPENDENT gathered that the robbery suspects were killed on Monday by a crack team of policemen from Isiokolo Police Division following a gun duel between policemen and the suspected robbers.

Our source disclosed that the police have been on the trails of the suspects who were reportedly responsible for the attack on a corpers’ lodge and robbing of a bush bar in Isiokolo a few days ago.

Source disclosed that the police who were assisted by vigilante group personnel busted the robbers in Kokori town around 1:20 am after a major robbery operation in the area.

It was learnt that the police, following a tip-off, clamp down on the suspects who were from Warri at the wee hours of the day but in an ensuing confrontation, three vigilante men sustained gunshot injuries from the bullets of the robbers.

Four of the suspected robbers were killed instantly, others were said to have escaped while two locally made guns and ten cartridges were recovered from them.

The remains of the suspects have since been buried at Isiokolo, Headquarters of Ethiope East LGA burial ground owing to the directive from the Council Chairperson, Faith Majemite.

It would be recalled that suspected armed robbers on Friday night reportedly attacked a corpers’ lodge in Isiokolo, Ethiope East LGA of Delta State.

The gunmen had earlier attacked and burgled a bush bar hotel in the area before they stormed the corpers’ lodge shooting sporadically.

Sources disclosed that three corps members were badly injured by the robbers who shot them during the operation.

A source disclosed that the bandits numbering about five, after robbing their victims, shot three of them in their legs and hands.

It was further gathered that the corpers’ were having fun that night around 1:46 am during a “get together party” with their compound gate widely open whilst no security agents were around when the armed robbers struck.

It was learnt that the Corp members whose identities were not immediately known were later rushed to nearby St. Francis hospital, Okpara Inland but later referred to Ovu General Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

The hoodlums had an earlier same night around 2: am burgled one Queensland Bush Bar hotel at Isiokolo and robbed victims of their valuables including cash and handsets.

The incident has since been reported at the Osiokolo Police Station and police on trail of the hoodlums.

When contacted, Acting State Police Public Relation Officer, Chuks Oresewezie confirmed the story, saying efforts have been intensified to clamp down on the fleeing robbers.
