Dare-devil robbers drove right into a South African supermarket and made away with an Automated Teller Machine installed there.

The event happened on Wednesday.

As revealed in the social media video posted by the Intelligence Bureau SA, the robbers drive their van in reverse mode into the supermarket and apparently order shoppers and workers alike to freeze.

They jump out of the vehicle, commando style, and, brandishing deadly weapons that include what look like AK-47 rifles, drive fear into the shoppers who dive for cover.

The masked robbers make for the location of the ATM and soon bring it to view, dragging it to the waiting pickup that is parked right inside the expansive shop.

They lift it up, place it into the van and drive away. There is no security personnel is in sight.

While a respondent expresses the wish that the robbers should meet an empty cash machine, another, Alex Mothobi Malinda-Lee Lötter, says, “I hear it was just loaded with cash,” concluding that the daylight robbers must have studied the cash movement into the ATM before striking.

This makes another respondent, Xolisa Bobe, to wonder why anyone would “put money in a machine that is so easily movable.”

Drilling expert, Carl Scholtz, says, “Good luck if they think they’re getting money out of that ATM.”

The reason, he says, is because ATMs “stain all the money inside the moment they are tipped or knocked hard;” noting that if it was that easy to rob an ATM and get away, “then there would be more of those stolen money [in circulation].”

Scholtz calls them, “dumb ass idiots.”

Another respondent, Mavundla Thabethe, laments that though it took almost seven minutes for the robbers to do the operation, “police or any security (agent) was nowhere to be found,” wondering what the outcome would have been if it was terrorist attack.

IT technician, Teboho Thebe, wonders if the ATMs don’t have tracking devices; concluding that the society is doomed if they don’t.

Johannesburg resident, Jay Stash, decries the dare-devilry “of stealing a whole ATM (installed) inside a shop, concluding, “Crime has become a whole shopping experience.”

However, expert in Criminal Psychology, Nana Muller, says there is enough clear footage to use for face recognition,” warning that, “This was a well planned operation with experienced robbers;” concluding, “so, they should be on record.”
