IGP Ibrahim Idris

Public Relations Officers of the Nigeria Police have commended the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for establishing the Nigeria Police School of Public Relations, Abuja.

Ebere Amaraizu, the Enugu State PPRO, gave the commendation in a statement in Enugu on Monday on behalf of his colleagues.

The PPROs also applauded the IGP for appointing a seasoned public relations officer, retired Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu, as the first Provost of the school.

Amaraizu, a Superintendent of Police, said the public relations officers were happy for the one-week Mandatory Continuing Professional Development certificate course the police authority conducted for them.

He said the course was anchored by professionals and academia from the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.

Amaraizu also said the professional course was a right step in the right direction meant to update the practice of public relations in the Nigeria police.

He said: “We are thanking the police high command under the able leadership of the Inspector- General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for establishing the school and sponsoring all the course participants.”

According to him, the course has provided enabling ground for the participants to be awarded MCPD certificate.
He said: “As well, other PPROs were inducted into the prestigious NIPR after a successful completion of the one-week intensive course from the Nigeria Police School of Public Relations.”

The high point of the course, which ran between August 21 and August 25, was the presentation of MCPD certificate of the NIPR to participants.

The President and the Chairman of Governing Council of NIPR, Dr. Rotimi Oladele, did the presentation.

PPROs from the 12 Zonal Commands of the 36 state commands of the Nigeria Police and some of its senior officers attended the course.
