The troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested five suspected hoodlums in the Mayo Ndaga area of Taraba State, who were believed to be among the criminal elements troubling the state.

Our correspondent learnt that the suspects; Amos Titus, 35, Palat Jafainal, 20, Kingsley Benson, 25, Raphael Abel, 26, and Yusuf Abdulkareem, 20, were nabbed by troops deployed in the ongoing Operation Ayem Akpatuma which covers Taraba and five neighbouring states.

They were reportedly arrested on Saturday in a joint operation with the Nigerian police.

According to the army in a release on Sunday by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Texas Chukwu, the troops recovered a generator set, a sewing machine and other items from the suspects.

.Chukwu said, “Troops deployed in Operation Ayem Akpatuma in conjunction with the personnel of the Nigerian police arrested some criminal elements operating in the Mayo Ndaga of Taraba State.

“Items recovered from the suspects included sheets of zinc, bed and a locally-made pistol. Other items were a generator, a sewing machine as well as sheets of zinc. One of the suspects, Abdulkareem, from Kaka Tribe was also arrested.”
